Choosing the right reed is integral to playing the bagpipes, small pipes and practice chanter well. Each one is designed especially to create the best sounds. Bagpipe reeds include the mouth is made up of the two opposing “blades” and is located at the top. The shoulder makes up the bulk of the exposed cane followed by the binding that holds the two pieces together using hemp. The final piece is the staple, created with a conical metal piece that supports the rest of the reed.
Each individual piece is important and you need to make sure that your reeds can handle the stress of playing and practicing. We offer a wide variety of reeds for everything from chanters and smallpipes to drone and practice chanter reeds.
