Love this digital chanter. After taking some time to adjust the sensor sensitivity on each hole as needed, it works wonderfully. Perfect for practicing late at night or other situations where I need to practice quietly. Looking forward to playing it through an acoustic amp and maybe some reverb for fun. The engraved version is really nice. It's beautifully done. Thanks for the great product and service!
Love it! I can practice at all hours without disturbing anyone.
I received my new Blair chanter from Iowa Bagpipe three days ago. It arrived fully charged in a nice case with good instructions. The initial charge lasted until today. That's 3-4 hours of playing time between charges, more than enough.
The programing is intuitive and the read out is clear. Function changes, tuning, volume etc. all access easily. I'm still at basic level in this area but there's a lot in this chanter to explore.
Sound quality in GHB is quite good and fully tunable, drones and chanter.
Sound quality in SSP is even better.
There is also a practice chanter function and advanced metronome function.
Playing the chanter is the same as playing a long P/C minus the blowing. What wears out is your fingers, not your lips. I just played four Piobaireachd back to back, only stopping to turn the page.
Sensitivity is excellent, requiring proper finger placement and execution of movements. Your flaws will show up on this chanter and you'll be able to hear everything very well. I am using it with either headphones or a small cube amp , which I prefer. When plugged into the amplifier the sound is performance quality on the smallpipes and very good on GHB.
The Blair is spendy, comes with a two year warrantee and appears to be well worth the cost. This will improve the length and quality of my practice time and entertain my guests. I can use it in sessions with other instruments, even mimic them through a computer program with a direct connection to a lap top. Downloadable upgrades will be available in the future.
I see this chanter as a win/win for piping and if it stays the course(only 3 days so far) it will be one of the best training tools in my arsenal.
Thanks again Ron. You're my go to guy when I need something. You always rise above !
